You can apply for the appeal of NSFAS 2025 by following these steps;
Step 1: Log into your myNSFAS account on www.nsfas.org.za
Step 2: Click the ‘Track Funding Progress’ option
Step 3: Check the application progress tabs
Step 4: If a ‘Submit appeal’ tab is available, click it and proceed
Step 5: Once you are on the ‘Application Appeal’ page, you can see the reason for your application status
Step 6: You are then able to motivate in writing the reasons for appealing your application status. Your motivation must not exceed 1000 characters (words including spaces)
Step 7: Then click ‘Submit Appeal’
Step 8: You may now track the progress of the appeal on your myNSFAS account

Who Can Appeal?
Students who have been assessed as unsuccessful, and who may lodge an appeal, will automatically have access to lodge an appeal.
New applicants are permitted to appeal if rejected on:
- Insufficient information provided
- Financial ineligibility
- Academic ineligibility

Continuing Students are permitted to appeal if rejected based on:
- Financial ineligibility
- Academic ineligibility
Students are not permitted to appeal if they have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of a student living with a disability)

Who Should Not Appeal?
Students are not permitted to appeal if:
- They are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund.
- The detail of the appeal indicates that the student is disclosing different parental or legal guardian information than disclosed in the application or if the student is now indicating that s/he is independent which is different to the application
- They have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of a student living with a disability)
- The student is a gap year student who NSFAS previously declined to provide financial aid to due to not meeting the academic eligibility criteria
- The Institution has not submitted their registration record or submitted an incorrect registration record to NSFAS – such queries must be directed to the Institution.

- Submit supporting documents in PDF, JPEG or PNG format and the document size must not be bigger than 5 megabytes (5MB). No word documents may be uploaded.
- If the information you have provided in your appeal is incorrect or if you need to make changes, please cancel your appeal to view your submitted appeal information and re-submit.
Closing Date for Appeal
When you apply for NSFAS Funds your application may be accepted or rejected. After 30 days of that day, your NSFAS appeal is closed. You must have to appeal within 30 days of your application status declaration.
